Maja von dem Bongart studied Sinology and History in Bonn and Cologne. She lives since 1998 with her family in Shanghai. Combining her academic background and many years of experience Shanghai Flaneur Maja was one of the first German “Shanghailanders”, who developed professional walks. Her topics include: Former French Concession, Art Deco, Chinese elite culture: Yu Yuan, Chinese literature: Lu Xun and Chinese intellectuals at the beginning of the 19th century and the history of the Jesuits in Shanghai. Since April 2010 Maja offers her expertise to Shanghai-Flaneur.
