A rather sophisticated educational program is the project "Cultural memory": Following the traces of Jewish live in Shanghai" that was developed on behalf for the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in the frame of the “Children’s University”-project. Participants were students from the German School Shanghai and Chinese partner schools.
The project was implemented bilingual, and it followed the structure of a
(1) lectures (taking place in the synagogue),
(2) a field-trip engaging different media (photography, interviews/writing, illustrating), and (3) the elaboration of “memory maps” showing the results of the work.
Another example is a Quizz-Walk created for a German-French student exchange: “Une Balade a travers de L’ancienne Conession Francaise – Ein Walk durch die ehemalige Französische Konzession”.
The three hour walk was part of a team-building activity for French and German students, who share the same school building. The idea was that they learn something about their current common hometown while also having fun together. a photo-booklet with guiding questions (in French and German language) for this activity.
