Besides his job as a creative director for the Berlin- and Beijing- based communication agency INSIDE A he is working as a member of the Multilingual Research Group “design2context” at the Institute for Design Research Zurich University of the Arts.  Besides numerous workshops and lectures in China, he teaches hand lettering at the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle.

Roman Wilhelm is the  creative director of the Shanghai Flaneur Walking Think-Tank. He has created the logo and the Flaneur map is a hand drawn piece of art by him. Roman is currently based in Berlin, frequently travelling to China for teaching and research projects.

For Shanghai Flaneur he has designed  an excursion on typography in the context of urban space, called “TYPOShanghai”, that  provides the possibility to put typography into the center of urban perception, focusing on its aesthetical factors as well as the discrepancy between globalization and locality. “TYPOShanghai” can be offered as a half day walk and talk event for anyone interested; it can also be tailored into a one or two day workshop+walk format for design professionals, including theoretical lectures.
