Anne Warr is an architect and historian from Sydney, Australia. She lived in Shanghai from 2003 to 2009, during which time she fell in love with the architecture, old and new, of Shanghai and wrote a Guide book called “Shanghai Architecture” (Watermark Press, pub 2007, available from Garden Books).

In Shanghai Anne had taught conservation studies at Tongji University and worked for the Australian Architectural firm “AJ+C”. Anne Warr is the founder of WalkShanghai a partner organization of SHANGHAI FLANEUR, and she is also a founding member of Explore Shanghai Heritage (ESH), a volunteer group dedicated to raising the awareness of the architectural heritage of the architectural heritage of the city.  

Anne Warr relocated to Sydney with her family in 2010. She is currently doing a PhD at the University of New South Wales, her topic being “Women and the Modern City: Shanghai 1930s”. Anne returns to Shanghai regularly and is available as a guiding expert for longer (one week or more) architectural groups, study tours and research projects in Shanghai and China.
